You Are 42% More Likely To achieve A Written Down Goal

I do not recall exactly how I got this statistics but apparently its true. I personally write things down alot as a life bred habit. Now a wife, mother and business owner, it is my means of survival.

I have to think for myself, my child, my husband and every other person in my life. Somehow everyone believes I can never forget. Growing up with such responsibility to “never forget”, I quickly adapted to putting things down.

I believe you are more likely to achieve a written down goal because you remember it. Goals are challenging enough to achieve, writing it down eliminates the first enemy of goal achievement – “forgetfulness”.
Also when you write, you are using most of your senses which allows you to carry out a SWOT analysis (Strength,Weakness,Opportunity,Threat); sometimes even without conscious effort.

Goal achievement requires setting a timeframe, so when you write, set deadlines and make a checklist to help measure your progress.

Keep rocking people!

Mothers, The Real Life Wonderwoman

I have been a mother for just two years and I cannot explain the strength, courage, pain yet joy that keeps a mother going.

It is easy to take for granted who a mother is because there are so many in the world; so you could think, what makes mothers so special?

I am glad a day has been set aside to celebrate mothers because every other day in the year is about every other person. Mothers put everyone ahead of themselves. The mother who cooks the food, subjects herself to the burnt crust so that everyone eats to their fill.

The mother who barely sleeps at night, is still the last person to go to bed the next night. The last meal is for everyone but the mother because she can withstand the hunger to ensure her family is fed.

The mothers career is always the first to go south because “someone” has to stay home to take care of the children. Or one career has to be on hold for the family to live together during a location change.

The sacrifices of mothers are endless. Almost unreal! I was raised by the typical definition of a “strong woman”. I Will celebrate my mother today and every single day of my life until I draw my last breath.

Thank you mothers for all you do to keep the society going without seeking recognition or awards. God bless!

Strength Of A Woman

PS: I didn’t write this but it’s too beautiful not to share!

*WOMAN*. . . . . . . . .

When God created woman he was working late on the 6th day…….

An angel came by and asked.” Why spend so much time on her?”

The lord answered. “Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet to shape her?”

●She must function on all kinds of situations.

●She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time.

●Have a hug that can heal anything from a bruised knee to a broken heart.

●She must do all this with only two hands.

●She cures herself when sick and can work 18 hours a day.

THE ANGEL was impressed” Just two hands…..impossible!

And this is the standard model?”

The Angel came closer and touched the woman.

“But you have made her so soft, Lord”.

“She is soft”, said the Lord,

“But I have made her strong. You can’t imagine what she can endure and overcome”

“Can she think?” The Angel asked…

The Lord answered. “Not only can she think, she can reason and negotiate”.

The Angel touched her cheeks….

“Lord, it seems this creation is leaking! You have put too many burdens on her”.

“She is not leaking…it is a tear”. The Lord corrected the Angel…

“What’s it for?” Asked the Angel….. .

The Lord said. “Tears are her way of expressing her grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering and her pride.”…

This made a big impression on the Angel,

“Lord, you are a genius. You thought of everything.

A woman is indeed marvellous”

Lord said .”Indeed she is.

■She has strength that amazes a man.

■She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens.

■She holds happiness, love and opinions.

■She smiles when she feels like screaming.

■She sings when she feels like crying, cries when happy and laughs when afraid.

■She fights for what she believes in.

■Her love is unconditional.

■Her heart is broken when a next-of-kin or a friend dies but she finds strength to get on with life”

The Angel asked: So she is a perfect being?

The lord replied: No. She has just one drawback.

“She often forgets what she is worth”.

*Being a woman is priceless*

Happy Women International Day.

As a woman and a melanin filled one at that, I have realised that I am a super hero. Yes, I do have real actual super powers.

Half the things I have experienced in my short stay on this earth, I have overcome the trails and temptation with nothing short of super powers.

This is how the average  woman fills; like a queen that has been sent on exile and no-one knows who she is in the land she resides now. She has so much greatness yet the rest of the world can’t see it because her crown has been stolen and life has gone on and forgotten she ever existed.

What I would encourage and how I have chosen to live Is, I don’t need a crown to be royalty. I act like it, I command it, I believe I am and the rest of the world would either follow suit or not. That isn’t my problem, my aim isn’t to change anyone’s opinion but live a certain way. It has worked for me, all this time.

My wonderful, enduring, intelligent women…noone can make you feel less without your permission. Always remember that!

HAPPY WOMEN INTERNATIONAL DAY.

Motherhood, My Career Motivator

I had completely neglected my blogs since my daughter arrived, which was two years ago. I never thought I would return to blogging. Once you have a child it feels like there isn’t enough time in a day to get things done.

Alot of women completely loose themselves in the attempt of being “the perfect mother”. If you are in that category, read carefully “No such thing as perfect mother”. Do the best you can, ask for help when you need to, eat healthy and try to rest as often as possible.

Whilst women stop their careers and dreams after having a child, I on the other hand got motivated. When my daughter was a baby, well she is still a baby but when her neck could barely hold her head 🙄, I told myself I need to be the type of woman that she would be proud of. For her to be proud of me I knew I needed to balance my life out. Family, Career, Spirituality, Philanthropy, Fun and just being happy.

I was raised by a strong woman, who reached the peak in her career yet a hands-on mother with three children and she never let her relationship with God faulter. I knew I had no excuse!

The fear of not being a good enough role model for my child haunted me. It took lots of Meditation and quiet times to have the vision for my next phase in life. As I type these words, I will be launching my new business in a few weeks. I still find it hard to believe that I am the Founder & CEO for an online retail fashion and craft store, FOLKSHELF.

FOLKSHELF is an Afro-Carribean inspired fashion and craft lifestyle retailer. Selling it’s own brand and that of other amazing designers/artisans around the world. It’s style culture is bold, flirty, elegant with a touch of retro.

Alot of time, stress and money was put into making this a reality. It has not been an easy journey, lots of challenges and fears had to be overcome. My determination and conviction kept me going. Even when the money wasn’t available or I barely slept because my little one was ill or just wouldn’t sleep.

I am so excited about this project and I am looking forward to telling you all about my progress. The website http://www.folkshelf.com would go live in a few weeks. I can’t wait for you to explore cultured style in our folkworld.
