The North East of Scotland is experiencing it’s very first African Fashion Pop Up Shop. This event is being hosted by FOLKSHELF; the online destination for African Fashion and Lifestyle Brands.
This is gradually evolving into a Fashion and Beauty Shopping and Networking event, by local African Inspired businesses in Aberdeen showing interest in showcasing their products and services.
What to look forward to are African print fashion styles and statement accessories, cultural crafts and dècor, beauty products and services, enjoying AfroBeat music as you kick back to have drinks with friends and family.
If you are in the Aberdeen area of Scotland, you can’t miss it!!!
Love to read you comments on this Spring/Summer 17 LookBook.
I do not recall exactly how I got this statistics but apparently its true. I personally write things down alot as a life bred habit. Now a wife, mother and business owner, it is my means of survival.
I have to think for myself, my child, my husband and every other person in my life. Somehow everyone believes I can never forget. Growing up with such responsibility to “never forget”, I quickly adapted to putting things down.
I believe you are more likely to achieve a written down goal because you remember it. Goals are challenging enough to achieve, writing it down eliminates the first enemy of goal achievement – “forgetfulness”.
Also when you write, you are using most of your senses which allows you to carry out a SWOT analysis (Strength,Weakness,Opportunity,Threat); sometimes even without conscious effort.
Goal achievement requires setting a timeframe, so when you write, set deadlines and make a checklist to help measure your progress.
Keep rocking people!
I love Spring! Everything is better in the Spring; apart from the need to start mowing the lawn again 😅.
Fashion is bold and colourful in Spring. Playsuits, short dresses, shorts, crop tops…name it. So excited to store away the turtle necks and thick scarves.
The US has quite a high number of African Fashion stores with amazing styles. But over here in the UK we are lacking. Some people don’t know we actually have such stores in existence and shop all the way from the US.
Look no more, I got you! These are a list of few African Fashion online stores in the UK; in no particular order. I will also post some of their styles from their site.

I have been a mother for just two years and I cannot explain the strength, courage, pain yet joy that keeps a mother going.
It is easy to take for granted who a mother is because there are so many in the world; so you could think, what makes mothers so special?
I am glad a day has been set aside to celebrate mothers because every other day in the year is about every other person. Mothers put everyone ahead of themselves. The mother who cooks the food, subjects herself to the burnt crust so that everyone eats to their fill.
The mother who barely sleeps at night, is still the last person to go to bed the next night. The last meal is for everyone but the mother because she can withstand the hunger to ensure her family is fed.
The mothers career is always the first to go south because “someone” has to stay home to take care of the children. Or one career has to be on hold for the family to live together during a location change.
The sacrifices of mothers are endless. Almost unreal! I was raised by the typical definition of a “strong woman”. I Will celebrate my mother today and every single day of my life until I draw my last breath.
Thank you mothers for all you do to keep the society going without seeking recognition or awards. God bless!

There is something about African Print and Lace combo in a dress. There is this sophistication about the look. African Print fabric is described as exotic that gives this bold colourful style, while lace is a tender girly fabric. So its understandable to agree that African Print and Lace can give you the sophisticated style you want.
The Ziva Dress is a classic example; simple dress with the ability to be a head turner at an event.
The shoulder detail on the Gaia Dress is simply gorgeous and I do have a soft spot for mini dresses 😉😎. I like simple, yet intriguing styles.
I know I should be focusing on the Piper Dress, but all I am thinking of are the outfits to slay with that chain bag the model has on…. 😩Swooning over!
The Piper Dress, everyone needs dresses that accentuate their figure. Even better when done by lace details 😉.
Summer is generally a warm season to rock slippers, sandals, slippons, trainers, converse you name it. Basically comfortable shoes or ridiculously heeled fancy footwear for parties. I would like to think the summer fashion emphasis is on showing skin. Which brings me to respond to the title of this post, boots in summer?
Not everyone is from a location that has extremely warm summers. I am from North East Scotland and I can tell you, an extremely warm summer is a privilege to us. At 20 degrees, the north sea breeze makes the temperature feel like 5 degrees.
So Yes, I wear boots in summer but mostly without tights and not fleece boots. I love boots that is why its a fashion statement for me in Summer, ankle boots work pretty well in any season compared to knee high boots. Just make sure the weather is conducive and you look fabulous unless you risk looking ridiculous or burn up 😉😎.
